ACADEMIC YEAR 2026–2027

KINGS & QUEENS | "Earn Your Krown"
A Program of KVegas Elite Inc (501(c)(3)) | Managed by KD THRILL LLC
Kendall Nelson, Founder | 336-500-4765 | knelson@krownacademy.org

1. Welcome from Coach Nelson

Welcome to Krown Academy. Welcome to the Kingdom.

I'm Kendall Nelson. I hold degrees in Sociology and Psychology. I'm a championship wrestling coach. And I was once a student who struggled to thrive in the traditional system. I built Krown Academy because I know what it's like to need someone who believes in you. For my Kings and Queens, that someone is me.

My philosophy: the pessimist complains about the wind. The optimist expects it to change. At Krown Academy, we adjust the sails.

Earn Your Krown.
β€” Coach Nelson

2. Our Mission & Organizational Structure

Krown Academy develops the whole King and Queen β€” mind, body, and character β€” through our foundational pillars: rigorous academics, championship-level athletics, intentional mentoring, and financial literacy. We serve students struggling to reach their full potential and student-athletes in grades 6–12 natively in Winston-Salem / Kernersville, NC. If public school isn't working for you, Krown Academy is your home.

Organizational Structure: Krown Academy is a program of KVegas Elite Inc (EIN: 33-4622985), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Management services provided by KD THRILL LLC (EIN: 86-3367612). Governed by the KVegas Elite Board of Directors.

3. Academic & Athletic Pillars

Academics: Academics are delivered through our proprietary digital curriculum (A full curriculum with digital textbooks that are state standards and scope and sequence aligned completely, preparing students with college readiness) supplemented by teacher-led direct instruction and daily assessments. Every student receives a 1:1 school-issued Chromebook for use in school and at home.

High School Acceleration: Exceptional 8th-grade students maintaining a 3.0+ GPA may formally petition to enroll in high school-level courses (Math I, ELA I, and Level 1 Foreign Languages) pending administrative approval.

Athletics: Our athletic programs emphasize holistic development. While wrestling is our inaugural cornerstone sport (with deep ties to USA Wrestling), we are actively establishing competitive pipelines for Soccer, Baseball, Softball, Basketball, Track & Field, and Football. All non-competing athletes participate in customized strength, conditioning, and agility training. A minimum 2.0 GPA is explicitly required for any athletic competition eligibility.

Mentoring: Every King and Queen participates in intentional mentoring. This includes daily morning mindset sessions, weekly 1-on-1 mentor meetings, sports psychology, journaling, and group mentoring on life skills. Coach Nelson designed this proprietary program stemming from his Sociology and Psychology education and personal experience.

4. Progressive Discipline Policy

At Krown Academy, I believe in restorative discipline β€” building students up, not pushing them out. With my background in Sociology and Psychology and my own experience as an at-risk youth, I understand that behavior is communication. When a King or Queen acts out, there’s a reason. My job is to address the behavior AND the root cause.

Behavioral Expectations

  • Respect: Treat all peers, teachers, coaches, staff, and visitors with respect. Follow directions the first time.
  • Responsibility: Come to school every day on time, prepared to learn. Bring your Chromebook fully charged.
  • Effort: Give your best effort in every class, every practice, every mentoring session. Do not give up when something is hard.
  • Integrity: Be honest. Do your own work. Do not cheat on assignments or assessments.

Progressive Framework

Level 1: Redirection & Warning. Verbal redirect, reminder of expectations, documented in student record.
Level 2: Teacher/Coach Intervention. Conference with student, parent notified, behavior reflection worksheet, potential loss of privilege.
Level 3: Director Conference. Conference with Coach Nelson, written behavior contract, in-school reflection, athletic suspension (practice but no competition).
Level 4: Suspension. Out-of-school suspension, mandatory re-entry conference, continued athletic suspension.
Level 5: Expulsion. Recommended by Director to the Board. Used for repeated suspensions, severe violence, weapons, drugs. Expulsion is a last resort.

5. The Digital Portal & KCU Ecosystem

Krown Academy operates heavily on proprietary digital infrastructure. Every student is issued a login to the Student Portal and a digital Krown Credit Union (KCU) bank account.

  • Automated Institutional Attendance: Official state attendance is logged securely via the Student Portal. Students must seamlessly log in before 8:00 AM daily to be counted officially Present. Failure to log in constitutes an unexcused absence.
  • Financial Literacy Economy: The KCU system simulates real-world wages. Students "earn capital" through the Socratic AI Crucible, Ticket Owl submissions, and consistent discipline.
  • The Storefront & Pitch System: Maintaining a positive KCU balance unlocks the ability to purchase premium academy services. A strict $500 KCU balance is required before a student is legally permitted to submit an entrepreneurial business pitch to the Investment Board.
